Poets Try

This is not my picture, please click this for the link

Most people see the word poetry and automatically think of education, poetry in English class, being graded on poetry, and trying to interpret the symbolism that poets are trying to portray. The purpose of this blog is to prove that poetry isn't all about being graded on your creation and the interpretation you have of the poetry of other people's poems, but it's about expressing yourself, your views, and understanding those of others. Poetry cannot be spelled without the word "try" in it. Try is included in poetry, and with poetry we can try new things, appreciate new ideas and suggestions, and by reading other people's work, we can try the experiences and the descriptions that we have just read. Also in the word poetry, is obviously "poet". As poets, we try new poetic structures, new topics, and new genres to satisfy what we believe, what we feel, and whatever suits our mood.
As a poet, you are free to write anything of your choice and express everything you would want to say or do. Writing poetry doesn't always include the necessity of having to please and satisfy the reader. The most important aspect and concept of poetry is the need to satisfy one's self. So, when you are writing, or reading a poem, keep an open heart and mind and think about the feelings and thoughts of a poet rather than what you're supposed to understand within the poem. By exposing your thoughts and emotions to a poem, you will start to understand it no matter what the poem is about. Whether you are a famous poet, or a poet in English class I hope you learn to try to understand and appreciate the wide varieties of concepts that poets explore.

  1. This is a terrific blog. After scoring more than 20, you're my first solid A. In addition to the fact that I like poetry, you are introducing me to new and old ways of thinking about it and enjoying it that I am not aware of. Thank you. Thus far: A
