Poets Try

This is not my picture, please click this for the link

Most people see the word poetry and automatically think of education, poetry in English class, being graded on poetry, and trying to interpret the symbolism that poets are trying to portray. The purpose of this blog is to prove that poetry isn't all about being graded on your creation and the interpretation you have of the poetry of other people's poems, but it's about expressing yourself, your views, and understanding those of others. Poetry cannot be spelled without the word "try" in it. Try is included in poetry, and with poetry we can try new things, appreciate new ideas and suggestions, and by reading other people's work, we can try the experiences and the descriptions that we have just read. Also in the word poetry, is obviously "poet". As poets, we try new poetic structures, new topics, and new genres to satisfy what we believe, what we feel, and whatever suits our mood.
As a poet, you are free to write anything of your choice and express everything you would want to say or do. Writing poetry doesn't always include the necessity of having to please and satisfy the reader. The most important aspect and concept of poetry is the need to satisfy one's self. So, when you are writing, or reading a poem, keep an open heart and mind and think about the feelings and thoughts of a poet rather than what you're supposed to understand within the poem. By exposing your thoughts and emotions to a poem, you will start to understand it no matter what the poem is about. Whether you are a famous poet, or a poet in English class I hope you learn to try to understand and appreciate the wide varieties of concepts that poets explore.

Poetry and Poems to Me

This is not my picture. For the link please click: picture.
For me, poetry is an open canvas. Just like how canvases are are woven tightly together, poetry is all connected. Many people from many parts of the world, write poetry every single day. Yet, has anybody noticed that no matter where the person is coming from, who they are, what their age is, poetry can take the same shape and size? By that, I mean the gist. Poetry from completely different people all around the world can have different content, methods, and techniques of how to write the poem (as well as the language), but they will mostly have the same perspective and aspect of the subject. For example, one who may be writing a poem about love in one continent may have the same concepts and ideas as another person who is also writing about love in another continent, whether or not they both like the concept of love, or if they are nauseated by the thought of it. Poetry is truly universal as some famous poets have said. It does not matter who you are, what you do or a living, and even if you don't like poems or not; once you right a poem, someone else out there in the world maybe writing a poem, or has already written a poem with the same concept as yours.

Poetry is a blank page. It is an empty blank sheet of paper that has unlimited emptiness. Poetry can be started, continued, or written on top of. Poetry is a form of art and literature. Because of poetry, lots of people have survived life. This is because through poetry, people have found a better way to vent, express their anger, and handle their depression. Poetry is a song. It sings to your hearts in melodies, beats, and rhythms that harmonize with your soul. Poetry is a great gift that people take for granted, or mistake for stress if it's given as homework, but I am here to show you the side of it you have yet to love.

What is Poetry?

"Poetry is a deal of joy and pain and wonder, with a dash of the dictionary. "

"I decided that it was not wisdom that enabled poets to write their poetry, but a kind of instinct or inspiration, such as you find in seers and prophets who deliver all their sublime messages without knowing in the least what they mean. "

"I would define, in brief, the poetry of words as the rhythmical creation of Beauty in words. "

"With me poetry has not been a purpose, but a passion. "

"Poetry is finer and more philosophical than history; for poetry expresses the universal, and history only the particular."

Inspiration

Poetry greatly fascinates me. After reading poems, I feel a deep connection with what I have just read. Poems are filled with great wonder. Just the thought that simple words, created into a certain pattern using different techniques and methods, can affect a person's mood, day, and life, is so stunning. It's such a wonder how in one scan of reading a poem for the first time can bring tears out of one's eyes or can put a smile into the saddest face. Poems create such an intense atmosphere that stir emotions within people and it's what mesmerizes me the most. With poems, whether I'm writing my own, or reading someone else's, I always become captivated by key words and thoughts that can leave me thinking about the topic for that whole day. Poems energize me, make me sad, make me happy, and make me confused, based on what the poem is about, but the most important aspect that poems create within a person is a sense of openness. With poems I feel free, calm, and ready to open up and engage all the emotions I have hid within myself for a very long time.
